Who We Are
At Cranium Academy, we understand that you, as a parent, are looking for so much more than a school day for your child. You want a place where your little one feels truly safe, deeply known, and genuinely excited to learn every day. Families searching for a private school in the East Orlando and Winter Garden areas often tell us they want something different from the typical preschool, elementary, or middle school experience. You want gifted-level academics that challenge your child without overwhelming them, warm teachers who actually know your family by name, and a learning environment where your child's questions are welcomed instead of rushed through. That is exactly what we work to build every day at Cranium Academy.

All of the administrative staff and K teacher Mrs Haley have been extraordinary with our child. She has special circumstances that require some extra kindness and understanding. Not only are her academic needs met but her emotional needs as well.
Our Story
Cranium Academy was created to give your child a complete educational experience unlike any other in the Orlando area. From our toddler classrooms through the elementary and middle school years, your child is supported through a unique blend of gifted-level academics, creative play, project-based discovery, and meaningful relationships that help them grow into a confident, capable thinker. Our Programs combine the strongest elements of multiple educational philosophies into a single, cohesive approach designed to support your child at every age and stage of development. We believe your child deserves more than memorizing facts. They deserve to be challenged, inspired, and encouraged to think critically, solve problems independently, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
The early years of your child's education shape so much more than academic success. According to the Institute of Education Sciences, children who attend high-quality early education programs develop stronger language, reading, writing, and math skills before entering elementary school. The benefits often continue well into adulthood through higher graduation rates and long-term career success. At Cranium Academy, your child is surrounded by educators who understand how to nurture both intellectual growth and emotional confidence, helping them build a strong foundation for the future while still enjoying the magic of childhood.
Rosemary Smith, School Leader at our Winter Garden Campus, shares her perspective after more than 35 years in early childhood and elementary education: "My leadership at Cranium Academy is centered on leading with honesty and leading by example. If I expect my team to give their best to the children, families, and the job, I should also give my best to my team. Our school is special because of the truly dedicated educators we have. This is not just a job for them. This is their calling and their lifelong career."
Our mission is to inspire creativity, critical thinking, character, and leadership in every student. We want your child to grow into a confident, curious thinker who genuinely enjoys learning. By balancing strong academics with social development and real-world experiences, we help your little one reach their full potential while building a lifelong love of learning that will carry them well beyond our walls.
We aim to reimagine what school can be by preparing each student to think critically, lead with confidence, and shape their own generation. When your child walks through our doors, we want them to feel welcomed, capable, and genuinely seen. That sense of belonging is what gives children the freedom to take healthy risks, build real friendships, and discover their own strengths in their own time.
Our curriculum goes beyond ABCs and 123s to foster active critical thinking, hands-on discovery, and real-world application. Your child will explore topics such as science, literacy, art, mathematics, creative thinking, foreign languages, financial literacy, physical education, and digital citizenship in classrooms that feel as welcoming as they are stimulating. Rather than teaching every child the same skills at the same pace, we assess your child regularly and create custom learning paths designed around their individual strengths and needs. According to the Harvard Graduate School of Education, curiosity prepares the brain for learning by activating attention, memory, and motivation. The natural drive to ask questions helps children absorb and retain new information more effectively. Our teachers nurture this natural curiosity every day by encouraging your child to ask "how" and "why" rather than simply memorizing the answers.
What Makes Our School Different?
When you are exploring private schools in the East Orlando and Winter Garden areas, you will quickly notice that Cranium Academy offers something the others do not. We are one of the few schools in the area providing education from toddlerhood through eighth grade across our Campuses, all under one cohesive philosophy. That means your family can stay with us through the most important years of your child's development without ever needing to switch schools or rebuild relationships from scratch.
Our project-based approach brings learning to life. Your child will not just read about ideas in a textbook, but will also build, design, present, and explore. Andreina Ortega, School Leader at our East Orlando Campus, explains it this way, "Our project-based learning approach helps children learn by actively engaging them in real-world projects, making lessons more meaningful. It builds confidence, independence, creativity, and adaptability. When children explore topics that interest them and learn by doing, they become more curious, engaged, and motivated."
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. According to Harvard's Center on the Developing Child, responsive back-and-forth interactions between children and caring adults help build strong brain architecture that supports healthy development and lifelong well-being. Our teachers create those interactions every single day, from morning greetings at eye level to one-on-one moments during lessons. With small class sizes and low teacher-to-student ratios, your child's teachers genuinely know them. Many of our teachers have been with us for years, which means they build lasting relationships not only with the children in their classrooms but also with families across our entire community.
Early Childhood Leadership and Staff
One of the biggest concerns parents share with us before enrolling is whether their child will truly be known, supported, and cared for by the people they see every day. We take this concern seriously, and we have built our team around it. All of our teachers hold state teaching certifications, and our lead teachers have earned the Child Development Associate credential along with bachelor's degrees in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Every member of our team holds current certifications in First Aid, CPR, blood-borne pathogens, and fire safety. They also complete state-mandated child development training, 24 hours of annual APPLE Accreditation training, and Endeavor Schools' Rise training, which includes Conscious Discipline.
